With the many school closures, and the sudden high demand for distance learning solutions, I'm working on turning the printable math and reading mystery worksheets into Google Slides for digital completion and easy sharing with your students. I hope that with these updates, you will be able to assign these mystery tasks via Google Classroom to your students and they can complete on their computers without having to print.
I am adding these updates to existing mystery packets so that if you already own the printable mystery worksheets, you won't have to purchase the digital mystery worksheets again. Please note that these digital worksheet updates are different to my CSI Digital Math Games full of graphics. These new distance learning updates to existing mystery packets are giving you the same printable worksheets with a digital text box overlay on Google Slides to enable completion without the need to print. In this post, I will:

FREE Math Mystery Download with a Google Slides Option to try
Technology can be testing and a different experience for everybody. Plus, I know that when I am stressed out, it can easily become a frustrating task and I get flustered. It's worse if that happens after paying for something too! So, I wanted to ensure that you have the opportunity to test this new Google Slides update free before deciding whether it is a distance learning solution for you and your class.
Important: You will need to make a copy of the Google Slides to your drive before being able to edit the text boxes I've added to the worksheets. Within each grade edition download (K - 6th Grades), you will find a Word Document option labeled 'Google Doc' (see sample image below)- the link to the slides can be found within that file. You will need to make a copy of the slides before being able to edit or share with your class via Google Classroom.
If assigning to your students, you will need to make a copy for each student to complete. Otherwise changes to the 'Master File' will change how everyone accessing the link sees it. So please be sure to take this vital step of making a copy first (that is also why when you first see the slides it appears to be 'view only' - that's because you are viewing my master file and you need to make a copy to your drive to edit the text boxes I've placed on the worksheets.
GOOGLE SLIDES TROUBLE SHOOTING TIPS & FAQS
There are a few things to look out for and check if you experience troubles with accessing these new Google Slide updates.
To begin with, when you first open the link it will be set as 'View Only' - this is to stop changes happening to my Master file that I share with everyone. However, I have enabled the ability to 'Make a copy' of the slides to your drive. After making a copy, you should be able to complete the Math Mystery worksheets without having to print. To Make a Copy of the Google Slides, go to 'FILE', then select 'Make a Copy from the drop-down list. Then, save to your drive.
After making a copy to your drive, you can change the title at the top (see in image below where it says 'Copy of Google Doc_Super Bad Superhero_G2).
The text boxes I've added to the worksheet pages will allow entry of math answers and letter boxes to complete the activity without having to print! This is also ideal if you are working towards setting up a paperless classroom.
I've also added a link to the pages to help students quickly return to the possible suspect pages.
The rows on the Possible suspects page can be deleted as students eliminate characters.
Assigning to Students Via Google Classroom
You will need to make a copy of the file for each student to complete. See Google Classroom 'Teacher creates an assignment' advice note below:
If you continue to experience technical difficulties with using Google Slides, please visit this >> Google Support page << for further troubleshooting tips and advice. Sometimes it might be something as simple as refreshing your page, clearing your Internet browsing history and cookies, or checking that you don't have a blocker turned on that could be preventing you from accessing the file.
I hope that these Google Slide updates will help with the new distance learning situations. I also hope that it will enable your students to easily complete math mysteries and reading mysteries at home without having to print. I'm currently in lock down too and I've ran out of printer ink - yikes! So having a digital option will help if any families find themselves in that similar situation!
Wishing you all safety and health during these unsettling times.
