Pirate Math Word Problem Prompt Cards
These Pirate - themed math word problem prompt cards are great to get your students thinking creatively and mathematically. Differentiate this card set by setting the challenge to make word problems involving either multiplication, division, negative numbers for higher grades OR keep it to basic addition and subtraction for lower grades.
HOW TO USE Each student receives a card and must create a math word problem that will result in the information given on that card. After the creating part, students swap their math word problems with other students. Once students complete the word problem, they check in with the creator to see if they answered it correctly! Suggestion for Distance Learning: Post an image of a card or some cards to your online learning platform for students to write some math problems. Have students solve other math problems created by students. PREPARATION Download, print, laminate and cut the cards. Store in a ziplock bag, small box, or envelope for easy reused and organization. Distance Learning variation: Use a 'Snipping Tool' to cut cards into digital images. Then post it as an image to your online classroom. Place Value Math Mystery -
