Students must use critical thinking skills to figure out what the clue is telling them to eliminate from the list of possibilities. There are five clues to solve the mystery:

• Clue 1: Value of the underlined digit (up to ten thousands place value)
• Clue 2: Growing patterns (find the rule and continue the sequence)
• Clue 3: Word problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication)
• Clue 4: Division (Facts 1-12, and a few ending in zeroes divided by a single digit)
• Clue 5: Addition & Subtraction with large numbers (regrouping required)
