Lesson Suggestions:
Remind everyone that there's no right and wrong, otherwise there would be no room for creative thinking in this task.
As with all mysteries, we all want to know an 'answer.' While there is no right and wrong, in fact I hope your students come up with lots of different ideas, I've included my own mystery story in the video below to show what happened. You may choose to share this with your kids after they finish writing their own stories to carry out a compare and contrast lesson or just for fun.
After viewing the video, discuss if anyone had any similar ideas in their stories. Do a compare and contrast session with the story above and what students wrote
Further extend this mystery activity by instructing students to write about Slimewort and where they think he could be hiding. You may have noticed the 'Math Mystery' tag in the video, and that is because this case can be further resolved and integrated with a math activity if you wish. Solve the case!
