With St. Patrick's Day coming up, I used the theme to create this next mystery writing prompt. If you look closely at the prompt picture, you will find a pot of gold, a leprechaun hat, and a shamrock.
Use the prompt below on it's own as a story starter for some inspiration and see if your students notice any particular item, or follow the lesson suggestions posted underneath. The idea behind this prompt is for students to pick any item in the picture part of the prompt below that inspires them to write a mystery story about.
LESSON SUGGESTIONS
Remind everyone that there's no right and wrong, otherwise there would be no room for creative thinking in this task.
As with all mysteries, we all want to know an 'answer.' While there is no right and wrong, in fact I hope your students come up with lots of different ideas, I've included my own mystery story in the video below to show what happened. You may choose to share this with your kids after they finish writing their own stories to carry out a compare and contrast lesson or just for fun.
