Making Arrays in an Easter Way!

There are so many fun hands on ways to teach arrays. Being Easter time, the lots of colorful Easter Eggs matched with a bunch of things I found around the kitchen inspired me to put together a quick post for making arrays in an Easter way!

From egg cartons, muffin trays, ice trays and empty chocolate trays, there are so many real life examples of arrays that you can use and easily get hold of. Add some colorful Easter eggs (big or small), and it adds a bit of something special to the activity.

Simply write a list of multiplication questions:
e.g
2 X 2
7 X 3 . . . . . 
Then get students to make them using the trays and Easter Eggs. You could then get students to draw each Easter Egg array they make onto paper or workbooks to show each multiplication equation. 

After drawing their arrays to represent each question. To add that something special for Easter, I would get the students to color and decorate the eggs in their arrays! Then count and record how many eggs are in each Easter Tray!

GREAT FOR AN EASTER MATH CENTER
This activity would be best used as a Math Center during Easter time. Simply set up the tools and Easter eggs (may need to do a count to make sure none go missing without your permission). Have your multiplication questions set up as cards or on a list for students to work from. Then they are good to go!
