Carrying out 'What's the Question?' prompts gets your students thinking creatively as well as mathematically. I love making them incorporate the holiday theme, and as I have done in the past for Halloween and Thanksgiving, in this blog post I'll share some ideas for Christmas, including a special freebie!
Make it a part of your math wall
Print out the sections on paper and hang on the wall for all kids to see and participate in. I like to add a folder or a pouch at the bottom for students to submit their Christmas math word problems into.
You could rotate the prompt wall daily during the lead up to Christmas. Below I've shown some examples, which you could easily use or adapt to suit your class.
To keep it large enough for the wall, print off each section as large as possible on separate pieces of paper, and then stick vertically together on the wall (as in the photos above and below).
