⭐Implementation suggestions
There are many ways to use this resource; some include:
- Complete as a whole class on your Interactive Whiteboard. Students take turns reading the passages, then answer questions.
- Assign your students to complete it independently or in pairs on a device. They could do this as an early finisher task, during your literacy block, or for homework.
- Optional: Add a timer per clue or solve the whole mystery to make it like a digital escape room! Another option is to team up in small groups and make it a competition to see who can solve it first!
⭐What you will need:
- A steady Internet connection
- Computer access – this can be used on any device with an internet connection and browser e.g. PCs, Macs, IWB, and tablet devices.
- Optional: print the tracking and recording page provided in this download. However, this is easily substituted with a workbook or plain paper if you prefer to skip this part.
⭐How long will this activity take?
This varies depending on the age and reading level of your students. If you want to keep your class at the same point, I recommend pacing the clues one by one. There are five clues, so one clue a day works well as a reading activity for Halloween week.
