This is a Multi-Level Halloween Game Pack. You will have access to three modes of math difficulty for this game. The levels are also available for separate purchase (see individual links below:

Adventure meets an escape room with this style of game. Your students will need to discover passwords at the end of each chapter to access the next part of the quest story. Your Teacher copy will contain all links and passwords.

Digital Sharing Options: There’s a Google Slides link, QR codes, and a hyperlinked student page as options to share the game links. Pick what works best for your situation.

Implementation Suggestion: Turn it into a competition to see who can complete the quest first in your classroom OR set a timer with a limit that everyone must aim to beat to finish the adventure (or single chapter if you prefer to break it up into smaller chunks). Distance learning – require students to report the passwords to show they have completed a chapter.

MATH SKILLS:

LEVEL 1 Pack

Target grade level: 3rd Grade

• Chapter 1: Add and Subtraction within 1,000 (begins with no regrouping, then proceeds to include some regrouping questions).
• Chapter 2: Is it divisible by 2?
• Chapter 3: Multiply by 10
• Chapter 4: Mixed Mental Math (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide by 2)
• Chapter 5: Missing Addends to Make 100
• Chapter 6: Multiply by 2, 5, and 10

LEVEL 2

Target grade level: 4th Grade

• Chapter 1: Addition and Subtraction within 10,000
• Chapter 2: Is it divisible by 10?
• Chapter 3: Multiply by Multiples of Ten
• Chapter 4: Mixed Multiplication and Divison Facts within 12
• Chapter 5: Missing Addends to Make 1,000
• Chapter 6: Number Patterns

LEVEL 3

Target Grade Level: 5th Grade (Advanced 4th Grade or early 6th Grade for review)

• Chapter 1: Add and Subtract Decimals
• Chapter 2: Order of Operations PEMDAS/BODMAS
• Chapter 3: Multiply and Divide Decimals by Powers of Ten
• Chapter 4: Multiply Fractions by Whole Numbers
• Chapter 5: Balancing Equations
• Chapter 6: Mixed Multistep Word Problems (Involving whole numbers, decimals, and fractions).

Pick the level you want to assign toyour student/s, and they are ready to play!

Students can end up with one of four different ending scenarios. A short video clip is provided for each.

What’s the same as the paper math quest?

• The video hook intro
• Correct answering of math questions to progress through the adventure
• Alternate story endings

What’s different from the paper math mystery?

• No printing or photocopying required
• Some story variations
• The math questions are different
• Lots of graphics
• The answers are presented in multiple choices for students to search and find answers.
• Cannot chapter jump, completion of each chapter unlocks access to the next clue.
• Four different video ending clips. They might want to play Chapter 6 again to achieve a different ending if they wish.

What you will need:

• A stable Internet connection
• The ‘game chapter links’ six provided in this download.
• Optional: Google Docs link provided within the Teacher Copy. The Google Doc will contain the direct links to all of the chapters.
• Computer access – this can be used on any device with an internet connection and browser e.g. PCs, Macs, IWB, and tablet devices.
• To share the game is by sharing either the links or the pdf files provided in the download. You may need to do this by uploading to a classroom shared drive or by email. However, I’ve also included QR codes and a Google Docs option as another way to share the links.

Sharing with Students

• Upload the Student Copy PDF file to a classroom shared drive, cloud or Dropbox where all students can access the PDF file.
• Email the PDF file to your students to obtain a copy
• Use the QR codes provided for students to scan. These can be printed or shown on the IWB for students to scan from.
• Share the Google Doc via Google Classroom.
• Do it as a class on the IWB with your access to the links only.
• Math Quest online GAME. Your students can play an exciting escape room adventure, The Heartless Queen, in a digital graphic game format. This resource is designed to be played on any device with an Internet connection (please read the technical tips section and try the free chapter below to see if it works for you).

Chapter Access

After completing a clue, students will be given a password to unlock the next chapter link.

Technical

• To PAUSE the game, it must be kept open in the browser. Closing the game will require starting again from the top of the chapter it was closed on.
• I have tested this game many times, but a glitch or two may have been missed. Please let me know if you come across any problems and I will fix. Also please get in touch with me with any other technical difficulties. My email is jjresourcecreations@gmail.com
• To prevent technical issues, I recommend clearing your browsing history and ensuring that cookies are enabled.

Common Chromebook troubleshooting tip: You can allow or block permissions for a specific site. The site will use its settings instead of the default settings. You can also clear data for a site.

1. On your computer, open Chrome .
2. Go to a website.
3. To the left of the web address, click the icon you see: Lock , Info , or Dangerous
4. Click Site settings.
5. Change a permission setting. Your changes will automatically save.
