In this game, the pirate has hidden his treasure behind a heavy steel door. To open it, students must decode his secret password by counting the Base-10 Blocks shown on the screen.

Teacher Bonus: Level 4 specifically tests students on 3-digit numbers containing zeros (like 405 or 320), which is exactly where most early learners trip up on place value!

How to Play:

  1. Select Your Treasure Map: Use the dropdown menu to choose your place value level. Level 1 starts with basic tens and ones, while Level 4 introduces tricky hundreds with zeros!

  2. Count the Blocks: Look closely at the Base-10 blocks on the screen. Count the Hundreds (large blue flats), the Tens (green rods), and the Ones (small yellow units).

  3. Enter the Code: Put those numbers together to build a standard standard number, and type it into the password box.

  4. Unlock the Vault! Hit “UNLOCK” to watch the heavy steel door swing open and reveal the pirate’s gold!
