Whenever my students begin to lose focus and it seems like I'm just wasting my time trying to get them to learn something, I reach for a brain break that will get them moving to lift the energy and mood in the classroom. I've found using a brain break helps refocus my students and sets a better stage for beginning a new lesson, especially if I'm teaching a new concept.
Keeping brain breaks thematic makes it even more fun for everyone, so below I've collected five fun Valentine's Day brain breaks to use this season! Simply pop onto your Smart Board, get the kids out of their seats and press play. I've tried to include a variety of styles and songs, where some may appeal more to older students and others the younger kids. Check them out to see what you think your class will love!
Please note: Depending on your Internet connection, the videos may need a little bit of time to load on the page below.
This Valentine's Day send your students on an epic Math Quest with this fun story “The Heartless Queen”. This is a fun activity to get some extra math practice in or for your early finishers. With SIX exciting chapters to work through, students can end up with one of four possible endings as they try to help Athtar the Knight find and return the Ice Queen's heart back.
